These meditations
will help to begin searching, and to take that leap of faith with
Jesus into a new dimension.
FOREWORD
This book of short meditations was written to illustrate the varied
thoughts and feelings of a young person (or in fact a person of any
age) as he or she embarks on a search for the reality of God.
Part One tells of the
searching, with all its questions, doubts and fears. The second part
records the experience of coming to a relationship with God through
Jesus Christ, while Part Three tells of the gradual development and
understanding of that relationship.
The Christian life
is not an easy or straightforward one; at every stage there are
questions to be asked which cannot always be answered
satisfactorily, there are mysteries and sometimes seeming
contradictions. Neither is the Christian guaranteed a life free of
trouble and difficulty in the normal business of living. Doubts and
uncertainties, disappointments, perplexities and frustrations will
crowd in from time to time. But the Christian life is also one that
is exciting, fulfilling, challenging, enriching and glorious.
I had no particular
person in mind when I wrote Godsearch, but I drew on the
shared experience of people that I know, as well as on my own
experiences. I know at least one person who is still at the stage of
about he middle of Part One, not yet ready or able to come to a
decision about which direction their life will take in relation to
faith in God. Others could identify with the first faltering steps
in believing, others again have already launched out into the
exciting adventure of committing themselves to Christ.
My hope is that
anyone reading these meditations will be challenged to begin their
own search. If they have already begun, I pray that they may be
encouraged to take that glorious leap of faith which will land them
in a new dimension. And for those already committed to Christ, may
they be daily blessed by his presence and led on to ever-unfolding
wonders.
An honest search
for God is one that will be richly rewarded.
